What's the best way to change money to foreign currency?
I'm going to India in December and also Amsterdam (only in Amsterdam a few hours). I'll need to change my money to Rupees and then to Euros. What's the best way to do that? I know that, for example, it's about 40 Rupees to a dollar - but if I go through the bank, I'll only get about 35 Rupees to a dollar. Next year, I'll be moving over there and will be changing a LARGE amount of money over (about $12,000)...so not sure how to do that and lose the least. I can set up an account here in the US through Wells Fargo that allows me to transfer money cheaply - but still, I guess I won't get so much. Thanks for your advice. :)

- Whatever you do DO NOT change your money at the airport!
- Hi yeah there isn't any hard fast rule when it comes to exchanging money.I look at the value daily then act knowing it's gonna be the best price.Another tip is use the big banks in the city for exchanges or exchange centres .The other choice is the exchanges at the airport.A visa card is another example of putting a large amount on the card and using the card for transactions safer than carrying around large wads letting the cards financial institution worry about the rate.
