How sure are you that your commodities are from halal sources?

This may look lengthly, but it will take you two minutes to read it...Please open your eyes... Many of us point our fingers to Israel and blame them for poverty in the world. We can yell and scream and cry over palestine, but what about Africa, Asia etc.? You know WHY we aren't aware of our damage? Because it's too hard, we don't want to know. Because media rarely advertises it. Just because it isn't popular, it doesn't mean it isn't happening There are so many things that we may be doing that cause the poor to get poorer in other countries: ☞ Farmers in Africa are given poisonous pesticides which can give them cancer amongst other diseases. This is done for the "fresh" fruit and veg we buy from certain supermarkets ☞Women and children are raped in sweatshops. Is it worth it? Certain companies like nike have sweatshops in the poorest countries. The workers have no other choice. Check the lable of your clothes. "Made in India...Pakistan..." --do you seriously think that these people are given fair working conditions? ☞ Jewellery sourced from places like africa are mined by CHILDREN sometimes. Do you know how many diseases those kids could get? Imagine the treatment theyre facing... ☞ Our waste are sent to third world countries. There, women and children are picking and seperating our waste into different categories. This is their daily life. No school, no play...they have to pick out OUR rubbish... ☞ Oil companies have oil spills, gas flaring and pollution. These aren't things to be ignored. It happens. People get diseases and die. They have to get water from places that are sooo far away. http://www.protectthehuman.com/shell (A short video about shell's oil effects) These are just a few of the things that WE cause and contribute to. And you may want to ignore it. WE've become numb because this happens everyday... But we can change....lets become more aware of where our products are going. The Quran says: "You are the best nation that has been raised up for mankind; You enjoin right conduct, forbid evil and believe in Allah. (3:110)" Do have a look into this link: http://www.renaissance.com.pk/Mayviewpoint2y5.htm It's about business... Please, lets stop this cycle of poverty And look into fairtrade and environmentally friendly campaigns and otehr ethical ways of trade. 1. Ther is more then this trust me. The big shots only portray (Muslims and non) what is in their favour.
  2. walekum salam here there are lots of Muslims and Halal meat shops.
  3. You cannot be sure some produce is not halal, probley most is not, But sold as Halal to turn a profit
  4. I wouldn't go as far as you do because I do not think anyone is trying to kill the growers of poorer countries, but I agree with your general sentiments. We are farmers by trade. We also have several thousand heads of cattle at any given time. We always donate some of our food to the shelters and other places. If we all gave charity according to the Quran, the world would be a better place.
  5. Some people care more for what the world thinks of their clothing and items of use than they care about what Allah thinks. My little girls alswys are in a store looking and sayin g "I want it , I want it"....I tell them to want Jannah more... The Prophet Muhammad SAW died with provisions foe one day in his home...why are we so worried about things? We can not take them with us when we die and they will not be crdited to us on Judgement day.
  6. Asalamualeikum Wa rahmatullai Wa barakatuho May Allah swt strengthen our Umma. Ameen. dear sister, we could limit ourselves to known and trusted sources but in the end there is doubt. It is our intention that counts!
