Is it a good idea to Invest the money in Indian banks as they are offering better interest rates?

I am in Australia at the moment and i have spare Australian cash which i would like to invest. I thought Indian banks are giving better Interest rates compared to banks here. What are the advantages and disadvantages of doing that?. I dont want to open up an NRI a/c because it involves lot of procedures.
