The G-7, the extended G-20 President Bush is to host a global financial summit in Washington DC next month aimed at "reshaping the global economic system" in the light of the continuing credit crisis. The formal invitation is for the Group of 20 countries, which includes the G7 richest industrial countries plus major emerging economies. The Group of 20, created as a response to the financial crises of the late 1990s, includes finance ministers and central bank governors from the G-8 industrialized nations as well as developing nations. The G20 countries are Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, South Korea, Turkey, the United Kingdom, the United States and the European Union.
