Indians: Do you agree that lots of Indians are still living below the poverty line because of politicians? To get huge amount of votes from the poor Indians, many politicians do not want them to be richer. At the time of election, these leaders speak very nicely/gently to these poor people, they make lots of false promises. After election, their first work is to start drinking the blood of these poor people in many ways, for example: there is not a single Indian Bank listed among the top 10 banks in the world but lots of Black Money (the blood of poor Indians) are there in Swiss bank deposited by few Indians. This money must be kept in Indian banks as white money and be utilized towards the growth of all the Indians equally. What is your opinion?
One German Bank has disclosed the list of Indians who has money with them? http://in.yfittopostblog.com/2011/02/04/black-money-list-revealed/ See the above sight. After two years of debates and controversies the list of eighteen Indians who have stashed ‘black money’ in the LGT bank of Liechtenstein is out.The list which was officially handed over to the Indian Government on March 18, 2009 includes 12 trusts and 26 beneficiaries. Are we going to get the list of swiss bank also ? Even if we get the list what our government would be able to do !!
Why are PSU banks showing rise in NPA and decline in Net Profit? In the quarter ended June 2010 Indian Bank posted unexpected spurt in NPA, in the quarter September 2010 banks like U Co bank and Union bank has exhibit unparallel growth in NPA and in coming quarter many more banks will follow the way to register addition of maximum bad assets in NPA portfolio to include their bank in the list of best performing banks. Government in USA realized the guilt after much damage and Obama openly admitted that banking culture in USA was not as good as it was portrayed by financial experts. Similarly Indian government will also realize after losing lacs of crores in NPA and when most of the banks will face survival crisis. Already government of India has infused lacs of crores as capital in PSU banks to keep them healthy during last one decade. Now CMD of the bank which has shown abnormal fall in profit and abnormal increase in Non Performing Assets (NPA) should introspect and assess policy of allowing recruitment of direct officers in scale II,III and scale IV and even scale V or VI superseding and humiliating several working officers who have been devotedly working in the bank for last two three decades but who are not having any God father to ensure promotion and good posting .Such high profile CMD and ED should get the work of existing executives assessed from unbiased honest team of officers of other banks and also ascertain how much NPA has been added by existing team of executives only due to their malicious intention. The outcome of such inquiry will make it clear that selection of executives was also wrong and judgment of such executives is also ill motivated. Top executives are mostly indulged in corrupt practices and hence stinking and polluted water is flowing from the top. It is top officials who have inculcated bad practices in the bank and are mainly responsible and punishable for wide spread frustration and depression in officer community. Employees in general are not interested to give their all to the bank. They think it better to keep patience till the corrupt lobby is exposed or kicked out. “Na Nau Man Ghee Hota Hai Aur Na Radha Nachti Hai” this is why entire talk of growth of Bank appears Bakwas to the banker who works at ground level. However, even now, If bank’s big bosses are still not ready to accept their guilt, bank should prepare a list of Regional Heads and rank their performance on the basis of total amount of NPA they have added during last three year or five years. Regional Head who contributed maximum NPA should be ranked as number one star performer as per tradition of the Bank. Gold medal should be given to the Regional Head who has contributed maximum NPA in last one decade. Hitherto officers mobilizing maximum deposits were treated as Star Performers even though they indulged in bad quality of lending. Now the time has come to identify officers who contributed maximum NPA. Time has come to identify Top ten Regional Heads whose selection of BM and whose ‘Kabile Tarif’ management helped in addition of maximum NPA in the bank .gold medal should be given to those Branch Manager who have contributed maximum NPA in shortest span of time and also to those BMs who have a track record of generating NPA in branches. Special prize should be given to BM (and regional head) who has produced crores of NPA in one year of opening of Branch. Human Resource Department should now prepare History of each executive at least for last ten years which can precipitate the name of executives and Branch Managers who have contributed maximum bad assets to bank. Similarly list of Branch Heads (scale wise and regional wise) should be prepared to know the top one hundred Branch Head who contributed maximum amount of NPA during the period under review. These top performers should then be promoted to higher scale as per whims of CMD or ED of the bank because they are the real adventurer and they can do whatever instruction is given by GM or by orders on phone. Such star performers can only arrange costly gifts for bosses and government top officials to tap handsome deposits. Regional Heads, zonal Heads or General Managers or ED or CMD who had selected above hundred Branch Heads (who contributed maximum NPA) should now be awarded with golden gifts and cash prize and promoted to higher scale and made ED. Because such officers contributed their best in making it possible for the bank to become number one in banking industry at least on the parameter called as “growth of NPA” It is difficult to make a list of corrupt officers because there is no proof written or verbal to establish the charges of corruption. Birds of same feather flock together. It is therefore better to award those officers whose contribution in rise in bad assets is considerably good.

Indians working in Australia-based call centres face problems? Unpleasant publicity following Australian companies plans to offshore jobs to India has led Indians working in Australia-based call centres to face a tough time. "We are facing lot of problems being Indian following recent off shoring of jobs to India as decided by few Australian companies," said Harmeet, a call centre worker in Melbourne. "Australian customers get very angry the moment they hear an Indian accent without knowing the origin of the call," she said, adding "They sometimes hang up saying we don't want to talk to someone from India. They abuse and tell us we have eaten up their jobs." "They don't believe us that we are based in Australia," said another call centre worker, adding she was once quizzed by a customer on local issues of Australia when she informed him that she was calling from Melbourne. National Vice chairman of Australia-India business council Harish Rao admits Indians working in Australia-based call centres are facing a tough time following reports of companies planning to offshore Australian jobs to India. "I can't understand what is the issue if jobs are going to India. It's a part of globalisation and it should be accepted. Australia benefits in the two way trade as it exports more to India and India has never made that an issue," he told PTI. "Comparatively, China that has most of its activity in manufacturing arena attracts less publicity," Rao said. He said by off shoring jobs Australian companies can get over 30 per cent cheap labour in India. In addition, companies are unable to fill up job requirements, specially in IT sector. He said none of the Australian banks were running call centres in India and most of the jobs transferred to India were IT related, he said. The debate is not so mature in the US, where there is still a lot of knee-jerk reactions to off shoring jobs. Some states are even legislating against it for Government work. But the US IT industry is supporting the practice, because of increased efficiency and lower costs, he said. Recently a media report said while ANZ planned to retain all its Australian call centres amid public concern about banks sending operations offshore, Qantas announced axing 300 IT jobs in Australia and off shoring to India. The airlines said it was impossible to find enough high-tech expertise in Australia to carry out computer systems maintenance and short listed two Indian companies to take over the work. Other banks, including St George, Westpac, National Australia Bank are also shifting many Aussie jobs overseas.
How free and fair is Indian Media, why they blacked out a critical news about Sonia? Corruption suspect Sonia morphs into a crusader - The New Indian Express, Sunday, 01 May 2011 “All across India, people are saying enough is enough. And suddenly the unthinkable is starting to happen. People considered above reproach or at least untouchable, are coming under the judicial crosshairs. And the latest high-profile target is one of the biggest fish of all, Congress Party President Sonia Gandhi, currently No. 9 on the Forbes list of the World’s Most Powerful People..” Says, Cleo Paskal writing in the online news website Huffington Post on the corruption charges against Sonia Gandhi. Award-winning journalist, Paskal writes for Sunday Times, Telegraph and the Economist. Her books have won multiple awards. An Associate Fellow at the Royal Institute of International Affairs, London, the US Department of State, those consulting her include US Department of Energy, US Army War College, UK Ministry of Defence, UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office, UK Defence Academy, EU, NATO, Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe, the heads of many major corporations, and intelligence professionals from over 30 countries. She blogs in Huffington Post, the world’s third most popular news website that commands over 38 million visitors viewing half-a-billion pages every month. Founded in 2005, it became instant success. In February this year, AOL acquired it for $315 million (`1,450 crore). In 2008, the Observer, London, rated Huffington Post, the winner of several awards, as the worlds’ best blog! Paskal notices the “growing, persistent murmurs about questionable business deals and inexplicable exponential jumps in the personal wealth of her and her family. Paskal recalls “the ground-breaking articles” that M D Nalapat, a senior journalist, had written about Sonia in 1995 in “the Times of India”.. Paskal also emphasises Nalapat’s view that “her desire for power wasn’t simply altruistic and that the wealth not only of her, but of her Italian relatives, rose stratospherically after Rajiv Gandhi became prime minister in 1984”. Paskal points out that while his articles were undisputed; Nalapat was forced out of journalism in 1998 when, as he had predicted, Sonia took over the Congress. Paskal cites the “public questions from another highly reputed source, Sten Lindstrom, Sweden’s special prosecutor”, who investigated the Bofors pay-off scam. Paskal points out Lindstrom’s interview in 1998 in which he had said that “the Gandhis, particularly now Sonia, should explain how Quattrocchi-owned companies got such fat sums as payoffs from the Bofors deal. “But the most serious threat to Sonia,” warns Paskal, “is now lying on the desk of the Prime Minister of India.” That is Dr Subramanian Swamy’s written request to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh for sanction to prosecute Sonia for corruption. In a meticulously researched 200-plus page submission, Dr Swamy alleges Sonia Gandhi has been involved in corruption in India since 1972 and personally benefited from the Bofors scam (1986), has held billions in non-Indian bank accounts since at least 1991, illegally profited from the Iraqi oil-for-food deals (2002), and even accessed KGB payoffs during the Cold War.” Obviously Paskal has read the complaint thoroughly. Finally, the mainstream media has blacked out Dr Swamy’s “meticulous” complaint against Sonia. A reader’s gratitude to Paskal for “shedding light on an issue that is taboo in Indian mainstream media” tells the true story. ---------- Now how fair and free the Indian Media that complained of a petty bribe by BJP for the rath yathra? Do you believe they are objective in their reporting ethics? Sanjay you are right that front line media would not like to annoy the rulers by exposing too much about leaders at the helm or even celebs in public life, because the motto of journalists had long ceaased to be objective reporting. It is full time business. So journos in the employ of the major media do not like to embarrass the bosses normally with things that may hurt their ''business'' ! Also they see the writing on the wall: What happened to M D Nalapat, a senior journalist, for writing about Sonia in TOI, when her party came to power? I had told it in the poser above in the words of Paskal already! We also know how The Hindu stopped the stories on Bofors from their Reporter Chithra Subramaniyam at some stage due to obvious pressures, wherefore she opted to leave the Daily and join the IE group to continue her series on Bofors! So the Reporters are also cautious. All are not made of sterner stuff after all! See even the above clip cited in my poser did not appear as a News item contd.. News item in the elite Daily, but as an article from Gurumurthy a freelancer! Actually IE is also known for bold exposures, but they also seem to play safe as times change! The Sonia story is in a internationally highly visited blog of Paskal already who can not be called RSS or BJP supporter! The aggressive campaign against Modi and the RSS or the Hazare / Ramdev etc by the rulers and the softness to more dangerous divisive elements like Arundadi Roy who speak against the courntr's integrity or the radicals of Kashmir, the Maoists and radicals among minorities are pointers to the perversion galore! Their bold scandals and the even more bold defense of the culprits and the open subjectivity of apex investigation agency (that shudder to book PC) etc show the total breakdown of any figment of ethics in the congress! But the media are not directly threatened yet, but are made to toe their line suggetively! The option to be fair is still with them. But their own ethics is also s contd.. also shaky, more in favour of an erring govt than the journalist ethics! When things have come much to public notice (like CAG report and the DR Swamy case in the Spectrum) then they would all sell stories! A proactive education of the public is shied away more by option than compulsion in my view! also shaky, more in favour of an erring govt than the journalist ethics! When things have come much to public notice (like CAG report and the DR Swamy case in the Spectrum) then they would all sell stories! unaccounted money in Swiss banks- India? there are numerous letters appearing in the newspapers that over the years corrupt Indian politicians and bigwigs have been depositing huge amounts of public money into Swiss Banks. Why the Indian Govt is not taking any steps to recall that amount. Is there a list of people available who have huge deposits? What is the solution?
Why the Banks are in India refuse to pass loan to the peo ple those who work in Police department and advocate? Is there any law that the Bank should not pass loans for the police people and advocates? Or Are they not Indians? or Do they have no any rights to ask loan at Banks in India? Or Are the Banks are treating them under Terrorist list? Why the educated people in Banks are not concerning about their hard works? As we all aware the police department people have to work in very dangerous places too while taking place bomb blast and during strikes by politic parties. They put hard works. In case even banks being looted the first information is sent to the police department in order to save the money from stealing by mobs and protect the life of the bank people. Advocates also they have to put more efforts and have to work hard.As we all aware the advocate services is needed for banks while their services needed during documents are required and arising any disputes with the people those who are tryingto cheat the banks. So while the Banks are getting well services from police department people and from the advocates why they refuse to pass loan to them? Kindly advise, Best Regards, V.Christian Gnana Durai.
"No Honey without Money".Are NGO Foundations(their offer is Honey) used for money laundering in Swiss banks? http://www.timesnow.tv/articleshow/4363721.cms While tracking India's black money stashed in Swiss banks, TIMES NOW learnt that Indians might be using offshore NGOs for money laundering. What is worse is that sources tell TIMES NOW that no matter what treaty India signs, the Swiss will never reveal names of Indian account holders. When TIMES NOW traveled to Frankfurt, the German government official refused to share more information on the Liechtenstein list. However, in a startling revelation, sources in the German Embassy told TIMES NOW that money laundering by Indians is being done via so called foundations, but the chances of the Swiss cooperating in this issue seem slim.
Do u think our politicians will allow this hybrid car drama to survive in Indian market? Every news website u hit on the internet u are likely to read a column about newly relesed Eco friendly hybrid sedan cars, hydrogen fule based cars , Ethanol fuel cars and list goes on .But in reality these cars are far from a bulk production and I suppose at least it will take another 5 to 10 years to hit the road ( though some are avilable in the market with sky high prize) . On the other hand , fuel prize is soring and majority of the gas stations (petro banks) are owned by MPS ,MLAs and their relatives . Can u imagine politicians supporting such a move of subsidizing the prize of the new cars which would be affordable for a common man ? Do u think our politicians give a f%%% about reducing the Co2 emmision? If not, then whats the whole point in this drama which is far from reality at least in Indian market?

Which is richest Indian family ? Have you noticed Yahoo is being censored ? A couple of months ago, a website named wikileaks has announced some sensational information regarding the men in power in India. It did not spare Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi and some other key personalities in the country. The facts shocked the entire country. The Wikileaks has again fallen in the news. The reason is that a former Swiss private banker yesterday said that he was going to handover the details of hundreds of the bank account holders to the Wikileaks site. The list of account holders contains the persons from US,Britain, Asia, Germany, etc. That means almost all the persons across the globe. http://www.iretireearly.com/sonia-gandhi-and-congress-secret-billions-exposed.html
Do you think this is possible to revise the list of communities fit for reservation? Dr. Ambedkar suggested reservations about 60 years ago in Indian constitution for a period of 10 years, for the upliftment of totally deprived and suppressed castes. At that time only few castes were there in the Reservation schedule. Now every caste wants to be in the list of SC or ST. This reservations split the society based on status, economy, vote bank and so on. Now is the time to wake up, to revise the lists of communities in the Scheduled Caste. Among the Schedule, some of the castes have attained substantial progress, socially, officially, economically, politically and all grounds. It is true that they claim superiority over the other SC castes. Do you think this is possible to revise the list of communities fit for reservation?

For this marriage my parents are willing to give me and my future husband an amount of money by transfering it to my future husband's bank account. Stated that if "gifts received by an individual exceeds Rs. 50,000, then the entire amount is taxable as income", and stated that the exeptions to this law are for gifts: 1. Received from relatives (see List of Relatives), 2. Received on the occasion of the marriage, 3. Received by will or inheritance, 4. Received from local authority, 5. Received from any foundation, university or educational institution, hospital or medical institution, or any trust or institution referred to in section 10(23C), and 6. Recieved a call from Indian sounding people telli g me i owe money to a loan office but never recieved money ? The number is (856) 823-0398 and (253) 363-9006. The 253 number when called back asks if I want my number removed from their call list which seems a little suspicious to me. Also I checked my bank statements for the date I supposedly received the money and there is no indication of a transfer of any money or direct deposit for the date in ? Or 2 months prior and after as well. I never received email or mail notifications to pay back this company. I filled out an app for a loan but didn't follow through and canceled the order without receiving money. The people have all my info and when notified about my findings from my bank told me I Dnt have enough proof and would loose the case if it goes to court. The only way to postpone the case is to pay them 250 dollars so they can investigate more. I dnt knw if this is real or a scam all I knw is my bank has no indication of it and I have never received money from any loan office.
Questions about Indian wanting to get Canada PR? Hi there, I'm 23..from India..planning to get a PR for Canada soon (I will qualify for the Skilled Worker Program)..but I will be looking for a job once I'm in Canada with the PR since it's so difficult to find a job in Canada from India....my main questions are: 1) will I be able to open a bank a/c in Canada WITHOUT a job if I have PR? 2) how long am I permitted to stay in Canada WITHOUT a job if I have PR? 3) what is the average processing time of Skilled Worker Immigration Appl's from India? i heard from canadian immigration agencies here that it's very less now (ie. 4 to 5 months) 4) what are the warmest/best places to live in Canada? 5) i heard that the "29 high-demand occupations" list keeps changing every year on July 1st? what if I apply after July 1st this year but my occupation is already gone from the list? isn't this policy a little stupid? if I spend one full year of full-time job specially in one of these 29 high demand occupations JUST to get a Canadian PR, and then by the time I apply, the job is gone from the list, what should I do? btw, does anyone have the previous years' ('08,'09,'10) high-demand occupations lists for the Skilled Worker category, so that maybe I can predict a trend/pattern to estimate if my occupation will stay on the list or not? Thanks so much in advance!! :) Cheers.. one last question sorry lol :D let's assume that my app gets rejected and i don't get a PR, then i would need to look for a job offer in Canada (from India) and find someone to hire me..let's say i manage to do this and get the job/work permit, etc. and go to canada....but the work permit will be only of 1 or 2 yrs i suppose....so after the work permit gets over (including extensions if any) how would i then have to go about be able to get a PR?

Query related to Indian stock market? Hi I am a small investor from India, and invested in shares of Reliance Power Ltd. for the first time. I want to know that if I get any shares allotted, how do I sell them off for listing gains? I applied for the shares through a syndicate member [Kotak Mahindra Bank], and at the time of application, I had no online trading account. I just had a demat account with my local bank. Now, I have an online trading account directly linked with the demat account with which I applied for the shares? So if I get shares allotted, do I need to visit Kotak Mahindra Bank to sell them off, or do I have to follow any other process? Please reply back. Thanks.

His Excellency, The Chief Justice of Madras High Court, Senior Citizen’s plight for justice and protection of the Sanctity of Courts. Case Study. Cheque bounce case. CC827/06, with Saidapet XXIII Court, Chennai. Most Respected Sir, We expect fair and timely delivery of justice, Sir. Those who drag the case cunningly with extended times to be severely punished. If we literates and enlightened citizens don’t value “ TIME ” The accused, meanwhile, multiplies the innocents hard-earned money. Please have mercy on the innocents who have no political link gets neglected, continues to incur money, effort, time to recover our hard-earned money. CASE STUDY 10th September 2004. Rupees One Lakh Cash paid to Mr. R Ramamurthy, to meet his emergent needs, friendly help extended after breaking my Fixed –Deposit. He promised me to pay cash earlier itself and take back his Post Dated Cheque No. 542212 dt. 20-03-2005, of Indian Bank, Raja Annamalaipuram East, Chennai-600028, assuring that he can never forget this kind help but a friendly betrayal. After lapse of six long months i.e. 3 days prior to cashing the cheque, Mr.K R Ramamurthy approached me ( i.e. 16th March 2005 ) asking me not to present the cheque for realization but for upto 14th April 2005, for which I did ask him to put a written request, accordingly he gave me a written letter of request dated the 17th March 2005. Subsequently, he sent me an e-mail, asking me to present on the 19th April 2005. Despite the waiting, the same when presented for realization, bounced back for insufficient funds. The same notified to Mr. Ramamurthy, who regretted for the same in words and promised to make payment soon, as he said, “ expecting the settlement of his partition dues, pertaining to his parental property at Madurai”, and a flat for his disposal in Kodambakkam, while his wife is the President of the Flat owners association where he lives. After which he was only giving dates and alas I was constrained to recover my hard-earned money through the court of law. Later on from verification of credentials, I came to know that whatever he said were all false. His family is on rent and therefore the question of his wife being the President of the Flat owners Assoc. doesn’t at all arise. My earlier vision of Mr. Ramamurthy being from a respectable Brahmin-family turned out to be a well planned cheat, trying to earn in short cuts, making use of the loopholes in the system. He has his own specialized advocate, influencing with politicians of the ruling government (previous and at present) etc. He gets exempted from attending courts, availing all means of delay tactics, which includes delaying in the listing of the file suit onwards, use of liberal adjournments, applying for quash petition(which was dismissed by the Honorable Justice K N Basha Crl.O.P. No.25241 of 2006 and M.P.No.1 of 2006 (Re-Criminal Original Petition filed under Sec.484 of Cr.P.C. to call for the records and quash the proceedings in C.C. No.827 of 2006, on the file of the learned XXIII Metropolitan Magistrate Court, Saidapet, Chennai-600015). The case was at the defence stage admittedly the complainants witness was over, no justification for entertaining the quashing petition. QUASHING PETITION IS DISMISSED AS DEVOID OF MERITS. The learned XXXIII Metropolitan Magistrate was further directed to expedite the trial as expeditiously as possible and more particularly within a period of five months from the date of receipt of this order (24-07-2007). Then on, the advocates of either side colluded. Adjournments continued liberally as the accused was exempted from attending court hearing dates, while self a heart patient declared hyper-tension and lost his job on medical grounds in 1993, while with the Govt.’s, Shipping Corporation of India Ltd; and continue to be under treatment from then on. Regularly attending courts to recover my hard-earned money, put into hardships by the harassment and caused humiliation, during the course of my attempts to recover my money. On 30-11.2007, my Case No. CC No.827/06, referred to LOK ADALAT saying for instant order. Both sides present. The matter settled at Rs.1,05,000/- only towards full and final settlement with initial payment of Rs.50,000/-and balance of Rs.55,000 (rupees fifty fivethousand only), on or before 26-02-2008,

Would Wall Street like protests break out in India too some day? The Congress led UPA govt had in the name of Reforms, enriched the elite segment of the Indian community, the corporate, who virtually rule the policies of govt itself. Apart from them, the corrupt politicians, bureaucrats and big business people who had siphoned off the wealth generated by people under them to foreign tax havens, are now under close scrutiny and their spoils are hotly discussed across the country. Thanks to the calculated delays in booking the culprits among whom their own political bosses fall, the moneys are now being brought back under equally dubious ways, posing a threat to our economy and security as well. A few samples: “This could be the mother of all scams in India” – yahoo news On Friday 14 October 2011 .. in 2010-11 foreign investor flows added up to US$ 22 bn, according to official data. The Kotak analysts did a cross-check with international sources like exchange-traded funds and EPFR Global. Their analysis shows that not more than US$ 4.5 bn came in to India. So, where did the other US$ 17.5 come from? (Is it difficult to guess even for a school student that the Swiss deposits are getting diverted back?!) “Corporate socialism's 2G orgy” - Article dated March 7, 2011 in The Hindu In six years from 2005-06, the Government of India wrote off corporate income tax worth Rs.3,74,937 crore — more than twice the 2G fraud — in successive Union budgets. The figure has grown every single year for which data are available. Corporate income tax written off in 2005-06 was Rs.34,618 crore. In the 2010-11 budget, it is Rs.88,263 crore — an increase of 155 per cent! Unlike the illicit fund flows, this plunder has a fig leaf of legality. Unlike those flows, it is not the sum of many individual crimes. It is government policy. It is in the Union budget. And it is the largest conceivable transfer of wealth and resources to the wealthy and the corporate world “Indian Black Money: The Swindler’s List” - From Tehelka Magazine, Vol 8, Issue 6, Dated February 12, 2011 It is almost two years since the German Government had passed on the names and bank account details of eighteen Indians who had stashed their alleged ill-gotten wealth in the LGT bank of Liechtenstein.. Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee have since said more than once that this list cannot be disclosed to the Indian people.. However, once the government launches prosecutions, the name would be made public, he had said. But the cases are still to be filed on the guilty! ---------- Would there be a Wall Street type protest in India also if the dare devils continue in their ways to protect the looters of our national wealth? Please share your critical views!

Are phone scammers really a form of funding for terrorists? I recived a phone call from a man with a heavy east indian accent and the mouthspeed of a really good auctioneer his phone set to low volume trying to convince me his comany www.grants4u.com was legit while I had www.ripoff report.com up right in front of Me and read to him word for word fron that site. He claimed then to be from www.government grants.com also listed on rippoff reports .com! I had read on www.truepatriot.com that foreign telescammers were fronts for drug Cartels and terrorists. and funded the deaths of thousands everyday! But the money this guy was holding out to bait me with $12,500.oo, too good to be true. even confronted by the evidence this man insisted he was legit. He even tried to bait me, telling Me he could tell my bank account and routing numbers. I cringe to think any one has that information or could get it! And I have relatives in iraq with our military. These people hide outside our borders and call preying on the over burdened person with a lot of debt!

Is it true the Indians have contributed the most to mankind out of all races? races/ethnicities... Has India contributed the most to the continuation of the human species on this planet? YES Almost everything known to mankind in the area of science, maths, medicine, metaphysics and astronomy came out of India. for eg: Indians were the first to conduct surgeries & use anesthesia, Indians came up with the concept of zero and the number system, Indians invented algebra, trigonometry and other areas of mathematics, Indians invented Yoga and martial arts, (even though it is wrongly depicted in the west to be a Chinese invention! The Chinese themselves acknowledge that they learnt it from India!) Indians built the first university, invented the first school of medicine - ayurveda, discovered the art of navigation; The list goes on and on and on!! Indians have, by far, made the most inventions and discoveries! Here is a quote from Einstein. "We owe a lot to the Indians, who taught us how to count, without which no worthwhile scientific discovery could have been made!" In fact, on doing further research, I have found out that some of the Europe's greatest inventions and discoveries were actually made in India thousands of years before Europe ever existed! For example, gravity! Isaac Newton did NOT discover gravity, it was discovered at least 2000 years before the British empire existed by an Indian astronomer by the name of Brahmagupta! (I hope I got the spelling right) "The motion of the stars calculated by the Hindus before some 4500 years vary not even a single minute from the tables of Cassine and Meyer (used in the 19-th century). The Indian tables give the same annual variation of the moon as the discovered by Tycho Brahe - a variation unknown to the school of Alexandria and also to the Arabs who followed the calculations of the school... The Hindu systems of astronomy are by far the oldest and that from which the Egyptians, Greek, Romans and - even the Jews derived from the Hindus their knowledge." - Jean Sylvain Bailly (French astronomer) Where can we look for sages like those whose systems of philosophy were prototypes of those of Greece: to whose works Plato, Thales and Pythagorus were disciples? Where do I find astronomers whose knowledge of planetary systems yet excites wonder in Europe as well as the architects and sculptors whose works claim our admiration, and the musicians who could make the mind oscillate from joy to sorrow, from tears to smile with the change of modes and varied intonation? -Colonel James Todd (American pioneer) It will no longer remain to be doubted that the priests of Egypt and the sages of Greece have drawn directly from the original well of India, that it is to the banks of the Ganges and the Indus that our hearts feel drawn as by some hidden urge. -Friedrich Mejer (English statesman) "I am convinced that everything has come down to us from the banks of the Ganges, - astronomy, astrology, metempsychosis,.. It is very important to note that some 2,500 years ago at the least Pythagoras went from Samos to the Ganges to learn geometry...But he would certainly not have undertaken such a strange journey had the reputation of the Brahmins' science not been long established in Europe..." -Francois Marie Arouet Voltaire (French writer and philosopher) Which civilization was the centre of human existence for the longest period of time? DEFINITELY India! India is the world's largest, oldest, and oldest continuous civilization. India was also the wealthiest civilization on the planet for ALL of human history, (except for the 19th and 20th century, of course!) Was it the one land that all men desired to see? YES! "India is the one land that all men desire to see, and having seen once, by even a glimpse, would not give that glimpse for the shows of all the rest of the world combined." -Mark Twain "India conquered and dominated China culturally for 20 centuries without ever having to send a single soldier across her border." BQ: Are Indians caucasian? It's funny how Europeans (Westerners) think they are the best and have contributed the most and everything when in fact, India and China have contributed more to mankind than ANYBODY ELSE. India and China have been the foundation. We are back again, in the 21st century! Ancient Greeks contributions are mostly limited to the West. It has greatly influenced the West, but that's it. The East has had their own things...And don't say the Romans either, they copied mostly from the Greeks. And if India isn't the oldest continuous civilization, who is? The award should go to Indo-Europeans? What have they done? lol.
for Indian cricket fans ..will congress govt DELIBERATELY make India loose at Mohali to appease pakis? this Q is a genuine attempt to understand the ICC CUP in context of India Vs Pak politics. Not an insult to anyone. Its based on below mentioned facts. If you choose to interpret it otherwise its your own problem. I suggest you don't read this Q any further , if you plan to misinterpret it . I had the impression that India is playing pretty well, with just 1 loss. i was feeling confident about its performance against pakis...UNTIL ..alas ...there took a different turn... manmohan singh called on pak pm. ( forgot this name ..whatever ) and his political troupe to mohalli to see this team perform. Now time has witnessed that Congress govt HAS always sold itself to islamic interests to bring about peace and complimented terrorism with mercy petitions ..like - delaying the hanging of kasab and acquitting all others involved in 26/11 - mercy petition for afzal - muslim personal law - congress intervention in shah bano case. - reinstating article 370 that discriminates against indians citizens rights on Kashmir. - allowing the genocide of 5 millions kashmiri pandits in pok, some 20K of which today survive in rehab camps in delhi . - making reservations for moslems ( terrorist quota ) - 3G scam insolvents go scott free after hog wash investigation, because it finally traces to D Company-pakistani isi the list goes ON..... and ON. My concern is ..could the india vs pakistan match be "Fixed" by the indian govt ...so that INDIA SHOULD loose to please the visiting pakistani dignitaries ? I kind of feel that could happen...because its hard to imagine who a vote banking appeaser like congress would , bring in paki dignitaries and make them loose in front of them. So the match would be politicized to fulfill the present govt.'s agenda ..make peace at the cost of selling out india's own interests to paks. After all the present congress govt is financed to power by none other than d-Company-paki-isi nexus.
I used to donate blood? Till six years ago I was donating blood (with a rare group A2B+) I have donated for about17 times at various hospitals in the city. Lastly, I donated at Indian Red Cross Society blood bank after which I stopped getting calls for donation. My name was on donors' date base and I used to get calls regularly from various people and hospitals. Once the calls were abruptly stopped, it caused me a lot of tension and I worred whether there is something wrong with my blood or if I had some health problemdue to which my name was taken off donor's list. What hurt me more is the attitude of the blood bank. If they found anything wrong, they should have informed me. Isn't it? Thereafter, I did not make any attempt to contact anyone in the matter. However, at times, the thought comes to my mind that if I continued with donation, in all these years, I could have donated several times benefiting many more patients as mine is a rare group. Thereafter, I got my blood tested several times on various occasions but I have not been so far told about any abnormalty in my blood. Can someone comment.
What are some proper and original salutations to a group of international business colleagues? Hello! I'm working on a project as an independent business consultant. I write emails to groups of business colleagues frequently and sometimes struggle with the salutation and closing. Currently I work with people in 15 different Caribbean Countries and Indian resources in the Banking industry. I'm the only American on the team. Tonight I am writing an email to a large group of staff in 2 different Caribbean islands and cc management to communicate a change to their process. I haven't been able to find a good list of semi-formal to formal greetings to international groups. My team members use many different salutations (i.e. Hello Everyone!, All, Dear X members, Colleagues, Team, etc.) and Regards is typically used as the closing. I'm thinking of using Greetings! as the salutation since it's a group of people and I don't know the majority of the group. Also, if anyone can list business email salutations and greetings to project team members. Any suggestions would be appreciated! Thanks! Amanda The Sr. Mgr that reviewed the email changed "Greetings" to "Good Day" and removed "Regards". LOL Thanks for your answers!

Bharat Ratn for whom? I have two deserving candidates for India's highest civilian award Bharat Ratn. I have listed my views why I think these are most deserving candidates for Bharat Ratn. I do not consider any politician of any party deserving candidate for Bharat Ratn. Can you add more to this list? Dr. Ashok Jhunjhunwala: A firm believer that India needs Indian solutions, this professor at IIT, Madras goes beyond just teaching. Ashok Jhunjhunwala is an entrepreneur who has founded seven companies centering around new technology or innovations in existing technology. His TeNet group has incubated many telecom and banking products for rural markets, like a low-cost ATM and a remote medical diagnostic kit. Inventor of Wireless Local Loop. Advised government to purchase the under water sea cable when was on the VSNL board thus today India is self dependent in the field of Internet. And the interesting part about this person is, he is still an IIT Madras professor living in IIT Madras campus, uses Bajaj super for commuting withing campus, not a CEO of a Multi National Company or a millionaire. mortgage deduction for a home purchased outside U.S? I am a resident for US tax purposes, but am a citizen of India. If I buy a home in India, am listed as one of the co-owners of the house and use my US income to pay off the mortgage for the home, 1. Can I get tax breaks in US for the interest paid on mortgage? If so, what are the documents I would need for receiving that tax break? 2. For getting the deductible on schedule A, what documents would I need? And, is only the mortgage interest deductible or principal amount and interest are deductible. 4. Is the cast system in Indian another example of the fruit of the spirit of the NWO? Is the prejudicing against the dalit and other ethnicities, mostly Christians, in Indian just one more sign of the NWO / Illuminates 666 / Satan's presence through out history and the world? How many "Gods" do they have 1000's? Has Satan been exposed so much that he hides behind the colors of false "Gods" such as the NWO is doing? Does it lead to in just prejudices against humanity? Is this why altered states of consciousness / transcendental meditation the method for the secret ceremony is of epidemic proportion for their "Religion"? Have you been processed through the NWO / Illuminates secret ceremony performed through altered states of consciousness / transcendental meditation and been forced through methods of witchcraft to accept the worship of one of the NWO's many "Gods" / Demons yet? How many people have experienced the Illuminates witchcraft / demonology? Have you been approached by members of a secret society who worship Satan and or one of the many other demons of the New World Order? Did this Satanic Mafia try to seduce and or force you to worship their Lord lucifer and or one of their many other demons? Did they use witchcraft to try and force you to worship the Devil along with subversive acts of terrorism? Did this satanic cult use magic to summon the dead to attack you while you slept? The Illuminati has placed occult material into society in the form of games and or practices to spiritually enslave society. These practices are strictly forbidden by God, documented in the Bible, and cause spiritual bondage / captivity Revelation 13,10. Many people are unaware of this but are in for an evil surprise. Some of the occult practices include Ouija boards, tarot cards, mirror gazing, even the eight ball with the pyramid in the center, role playing games such as dungeons and dragons and magic art which is the precursor to transcendental mediation which is the method for the secret ceremony used to enslave society. The list is endless and these are but a few. Through said spiritual bondage the victims of this satanic mafia are being forced to go through a secret ceremony performed through altered states of consciousness / transcendental meditation assisted with witchcraft. The victim is tortured by methods of witchcraft / demonology until he she consents to go through said ceremony. While in said state the victim is instructed to accept the worship of one of the NWO's many Gods. They say using methods of witchcraft / telepathy, that in accepting the worship of one of their Gods you accept the worship of them all. One of their Gods is Satan, another one they call Jesus, but they seem to have a demon for every occasion. Is this how the Devil and his Illuminati is going to bring all religions of the world together under one banner of 666 spiritually enslaving the people of the world Revelation 13,10? Do members of this “Secret” Society recognize their own by the unholy baptism / spirit of witchcraft they receive through their initiation? The Illuminati is a large octopus with many tentacles reaching into small & large corporations, banking, large construction projects, education, drug cartels, biker gangs, and all branches of government just to name a few. Has this secret society threatened you and your family? Did they use drug dealing cartels to terrorize you and try to force you in to the “Secret” Society? Where you threatened by members with law enforcement? Did they use their members covertly to get you fired from your Job making false accusation about you? Is this why they establish their members in management positions? My list is endless. Is your’s about to begin? BEWARE OF THE NWO / Illuminated ones into the deep teachings of Lucifer 666!!!! What do you get when you put the "Free" Masons & associates, Mafia & associates, New Age & associated witchcraft cults together? Do you get a sick, sick, sick family reunion and fuel for the fire? When was the last time you where burned with fire? Do you think your hand placed in the fire would open your eyes and set you free from spiritual bondage to the Devil and his minions / Illuminated ones into the deep teaching of the Devil Revelation 13,10? Top contributors to what membership in the Thule society?

Is representative democracy doing well in India? Is there any other type of dmorcy which can better suit India? Is representative democracy doing well in India? Is there any other type of democracy which can better suit India? if yes how it can be taken into practice? In India(many other countries too) where political parties first priority is to increase vote bank then if some scope remains for nation progress or not at all in the priority list. where people are divided so badly into religion , caste , subcaste etc leaves very less scope to think about nation as first priority of any of the party. To survive all party has to advertise to attract max number of voters at any cost(pathetic). If a party claims in his election manifesto that it will solve Kashmir issue while other party says that they will fight to provide reservation for certain caste , the later will attract more votes. If Samajwadi Party(SP) start educating its own voter that rather increasing population they should think for quality of life not quantity , but by this way they can only make it's vote bank account lower in number. while in the interest of nation (as well as for personal social and economical life of its own major vote bank Muslims)SP should advocate to lower the pace of population growth they are contributing. similar example can be given for each party like congress , BJP etc .. If political parties can only get benefits if they keep on dividing us ( the easy way ) rather then uniting us, even if now at least young people slowly forgetting division of caste, subcaste even religion but these parties will not let us forget us at any cost they can go to any level so create more divisions. so at the end I see this representative democracy can only worsen the situation of nation.. I am not targeting politician rather i see it as failure( or less effective) of representative democracy in Indian society Pl suggest?
Why do republicans want to hurt small business? http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20100729/ap_on_bi_ge/us_small_business_lending WASHINGTON — President Barack Obama's election-year jobs agenda suffered a new setback Thursday when Senate Republicans blocked a bill creating a $30 billion government fund to help open up lending for credit-starved small businesses. The fund would be available to community banks with less than $10 billion in assets to help them increase lending to small businesses. The bill would combine the fund with about $12 billion in tax breaks aimed at small businesses. Democrats say banks should be able to use the lending fund to leverage up to $300 billion in loans, helping to loosen tight credit markets. Some Republicans, however, likened it to the unpopular bailout of the financial industry. Democrats had wanted to pass the bill before Congress leaves town for summer vacation, enabling them to reassure anxious voters back home that they were addressing the sluggish economy. Senate leaders continued to negotiate changes to the bill Thursday, but time was short. The Senate is in session for another week; the House is scheduled to adjourn Friday. Congressional Democrats started the year with ambitious plans to pass a series of bills designed to create jobs. But unless they reach a breakthrough on the small business lending bill, they will have little to show for it just a few months before midterm elections that will determine whether Democrats keep their majorities in the House and Senate. Congress has extended unemployment benefits for people who have been out of work for long stretches and passed a measure that gives tax breaks to businesses that hire unemployed workers. But many other initiatives stalled, in part because of concerns they would add to the growing national debt. Obama lobbied for the small business lending bill during a trip Wednesday to Edison, N.J. But Senate Democrats fell short of the necessary 60 votes Thursday to end a Republican filibuster. The vote was 58 to 42, with all 41 Republicans voting to continue the filibuster. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., also voted to continue the filibuster, but only as a procedural step that allows him to call up the bill again. Much of the bill had bipartisan support, but Senate Republican leader Mitch McConnell of Kentucky said Democrats were blocking GOP amendments. Reid said Republican demands kept changing. "It takes a lot of effort to make a partisan issue out of a bill that should have broad bipartisan support," McConnell said. "But our friends on the other side have managed to pull it off. They've outdone themselves." Reid said he offered to hold votes on some Republican amendments, only to see the list of GOP demands grow. "What we are simply trying to do is pass a bipartisan bill that will help small business owners create jobs," Reid said. "We went to great lengths to address what Republicans claimed were their concerns." GOP amendments included measures to beef up border security, impose a government spending cap and lower the estate tax, which is scheduled to return next year with a top rate of 55 percent on estates larger than $1 million. One Republican amendment would repeal a new tax reporting requirement for businesses that was included in the massive health care overhaul enacted last spring. Democrats, meanwhile, have added about $1.5 billion in disaster relief for farmers who lost crops in 2009, a measure sponsored by Sen. Blanche Lincoln, D-Ark. Democrats also wanted to add an amendment to settle long-running class-action lawsuits brought by black farmers and American Indians. One lawsuit concerned the government's management and accounting of more than 300,000 trust accounts of American Indians. The other is a discrimination lawsuit brought by black farmers against the Agriculture Department. The cost of settling them both: about $4.6 billion. The small business tax cuts in the bill include breaks for restaurant owners and retailers who remodel their stores or build new ones. Other businesses could more quickly recover the costs of capital improvements through depreciation. Long-term investors in some small businesses would be exempt from paying capital gains taxes. Much of the bill would be paid for by allowing taxpayers to convert 401(k) and government retirement accounts into Roth accounts, in which they pay taxes up front on the money they contribute, enabling them to withdraw it tax-free after they retire. Taxpayers who convert accounts this year would pay the taxes in 2011 and 2012, generating an estimated $5.1 billion.
What on earth are we celebrating? August 15th, 2010. India will be celebrating its 64th Independence Day. The radio will be blaring ‘Aye mere watan ke logon’. TV channels will alternate between ‘Roja’, ‘Rang de Basanti’, ‘Border’ and ‘Lakshya’. Schools across the country will compel their students to shed Sunday morning sleepiness and partake in flag-hoisting ceremonies. Milestones will be recounted, leaders glorified and saffron, white and green will dominate the landscape . Indians across the country will wear patriotism on their sleeve. what are we actually celebrating? Are we rejoicing over how corrupt officials choose heftier bank balances over national pride? Or maybe we’re happy about how our elected representatives decide to put the country’s security at risk to further their own agendas. Elsewhere in India, an eight-year-old girl was mercilessly beaten up by her teacher for failing to contribute Rs 2 to an Independence day function. This is the kind of ‘freedom’ kids in this country enjoy, where corporal punishment is an everyday occurrence that rarely comes to the fore. Kashmir continued to boil this week with this summer’s death toll from violence rising to over 50. The Indian establishment has been unable to win over the Kashmiri population through overwhelming force and the protests in the valley are directed against the military presence. Bunkers and security forces symbolise India for most Kashmiris. Nature’s fury hasn’t left us unscathed either. The cloudburst and subsequent floods in Leh, has turned entire towns to slush and has left the area to appear like a war ravaged battleground. The death toll is at 183 and mounting while over 200 people are still missing. The oil spill off the coast of Mumbai last Sunday after two cargo ships collided has brought up severe environmental concerns. Marine life and migratory birds have been affected and the livelihood of thousands has been hampered with estimated losses above Rs 85 crore per day. This environmental hazard occurred even as 25 years after the Bhopal Gas Tragedy, the Congress party faced allegations of letting off the guilty under political pressure. Victims of the tragedy have till date not been provided adequate compensation and health care. The Indian cricket team, on whom lies the brunt of the nation’s collective aspirations, has also let us down this time with a humiliating 200-run defeat in Tuesday’s ODI against New Zealand. Industrial growth is at the lowest its been in 13 months even as inflation has returned to double digits.Petrol and diesel prices seem to be hiked every month. Prices of commodities like milk, cereals and fruits have touched an all-time high. Soaring expenses means that even the middle class are crossing out essentials from their grocery list and the poor are going hungry. This is even as surplus foodgrains lie rotting in godowns. Like the line from a song in ‘Peepli Live’ goes: Sakhi Saiyan khoob hai kamaat, Mehngai daiyan khaye jaat hai (Friend, my husband earns a lot, but the inflation is a witch that eats it all up). Sources: IBN Live, yahoo news, Hindustan times Are all the above reasons, cause enough to celebrate? The optimist in me will still search for those odd success stories and attempts to overcome calamities. I too love my country and wish to be proud of what I see happening in it. To my misfortune, events of the recent past are making my wish seem like just wishful thinking.

Which country is good for immigration, australia or canada? I am in networking professional (system support/ helpdesk support)since last 3 years, before that working in bank in credit department, now looking to migrate from pakistan due to uncertainity and low income and other issues. so in this regard can some one advise out of the aus and canada which one is best in context of child education, health care, secure life and job prospects. i myself prefer australia due to pleasent weather, but heard lot of issues of racism specially for asians from indian subcontinent, also heard child education and health care is free in canada, but in aus only healthcare is supported by gov, where as there are lot of rumers that to find office or white color job in canada is very difficult, the immigration process in new policy is both same (less then year) either in MODL in aus or new profession list in canada. So plz someone can advise in this regard.

Doesn't this woman know that nobody gives a crap about this psychotic woman and her everchanging BS story? She cannot decide her age, where she is from, when the last time she saw her known terrorist father, what her story is about one minute talking about soldiers coddling her and in the next article stating that they were shooing at her...can't decide if she is married or not - doesn't seem to correct even the name of her own child in a read through of an article. I like this latest compilation where she states she only saw her father 3 times in a period of years when she a foreign citizen was living in Sri Lanka. Neither her mother or father were born in Sri Lanka but were Indian citizens that came to Sri Lanka to take part in a separatist and terrorist revolution. Her father was responsible for the bombing of the Central Bank in Sri Lanka and is still wanted for questioning in the assassination of Rajiv Gandhi. If she cared about Tamils in Sri Lanka she would have asked her uncle Pabraharakhan to release the people of all ethnicities including Tamil that he was holding under force and duress. If she was for the Tamil people she would have asked her Aunty Adele who has for years been teaching women and children to be suicide/homicide bombers (Adele also a foreign citizen)to cease such behaviours, Her own bandmates have contradicted her very statements in interviews and so has her family. It is laughable that this woman who has never spoken for even the rights of people to not be held against their will by terrorists such as her father whose organization was repeatedly involved and then dis-involved with the LTTE with her own parents sometime members of the LTTE(at some of the most violent stretches of utter destruction and terror including suicide bombings, political assassinations, cruxifictions of villagers, the interparty killings of EROs's own leaders and a list of arms trafficking, kidnappings, drug trafficking and mercenary actions. Since MIA was pictured in the company of her "long lost" father just last year touting her solidarity with hiim the peoples of Sri Lanka take her sudden image makeover also with a grain of salt instead of the load of BS she tries to feed the public. Many of us have family that have studied in Russia, whose relations have either been born or lived in the UK, are of muli "ethnic" compositions of ALL the human components in Sri Lanka but we do not either kill people, smuggle drugs, train in terrorist camps or espouse terrorism. We also won't forget the sound bytes of MIA defending the LTTE use of human beings as human shields and cannon fodder and most certainly NEVER forget the fact that even on the last day of the conflict she did not ask for the release of innocent civilians. y does the govt not catch tax evaders who withdraw black money using their atm debit card of non-india banks? Why does the govt. not catch tax evaders who withdraw black money using their atm debit cards of non-indian banks? i mean, the atm stores card numbers, and the govt can monitor all atm transactions over the year and make a list of all card numbers(especially those belonging to non-indian banks) who withdrew a total of say 20 lakhs or more over the year...because those cards likely belong to the richest of the richest, who could possibly be withdrawing black money stored in hidden a/cs... does the govt do this? why not?

If the World was so Safe before Bush took Office,How do you Explain this List??????? American Victims of Mideast Terrorist Attacks -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The following is a listing of incidents in which Americans are known to have been killed by Middle East-based terrorists. The list will be updated as more information becomes available. The exact number of American casualties is difficult to calculate because of incomplete news reports regarding numbers and nationalities of those injured. The toll from the September 11, 2001, attack on the World Trade Center is also uncertain, but current figures place the number of dead above 3,000. The number of dead at the Pentagon and on the hijacked airliners numbered approximately 385. Since Yasser Arafat "renounced" violence in the Oslo Peace Accords on September 13, 1993, at least 53 Americans have been murdered and at least another 83 Americans have been injured by Palestinian terrorism. Excluding the September 11 attacks, approximately 700 Americans have been killed and 1,600 wounded in terrorist attacks since 1970. Shocking revelation about Swiss Bank Accounts? I received the following e-mail from a friend. Read and answer the following question. 1) Can this be true ? 2) If yes, what we as ordinary citizens can do to book the culprits. Revelation of Swiss bank accounts This is so shocking.......If black money deposits was an Olympics event.... India would have won a gold medal hands down. The second best Russia has 4 times lesser deposit. U.S. Is not even there in the counting in top five! India has more money in Swiss banks than all the other countries combined! Recently, due to international pressure, the Swiss government agreed to disclose the names of the account holders only if the respective governments formally asked for it. Indian government is not asking for the details.......no marks for guessing why? We need to start a movement to pressurise the government to do so! This is perhaps the only way, and a golden opportunity, to expose the high and mighty and weed out corruption! Please read on......and forward to all the honest Indians to.....like somebody is forwarding to you.......and build a ground-swell of support for action! Is India poor, who says? Ask the Swiss banks. With personal account deposit bank of $1,500 billion in foreign reserve which have been misappropriated, an amount 13 times larger than the country's foreign debt, one needs to rethink if India is a poor country? DISHONEST INDUSTRIALISTS, scandalous politicians and corrupt IAS, IRS, IPS officers have deposited in foreign banks in their illegal personal accounts a sum of about $1500 billion, which have been misappropriated by them. This amount is about 13 times larger than the country's foreign debt. With this amount 45 crore poor people can get Rs 1,00,000 each. This huge amount has been appropriated from the people of India by exploiting and betraying them. Once this huge amount of black money and property comes back to India , the entire foreign debt can be repaid in 24 hours. After paying the entire foreign debt, we will have surplus amount, almost 12 times larger than the foreign debt. If this surplus amount is invested in earning interest, the amount of interest will be more than the annual budget of the Central government. So even if all the taxes are abolished, then also the Central government will be able to maintain the country very comfortably. Some 80,000 people travel to Switzerland every year, of whom 25,000 travel very frequently. 'Obviously, these people won't be tourists. They must be traveling there for some other reason,' believes an official involved in tracking illegal money. And, clearly, he isn't referring to the commerce ministry bureaucrats who've been flitting in and out of Geneva ever since the World Trade Organization (WTO) negotiations went into a tailspin! Just read the following details and note how these dishonest industrialists, scandalous politicians, corrupt officers, cricketers, film actors, illegal sex trade and protected wildlife operators, to name just a few, sucked this country's wealth and prosperity. This may be the picture of deposits in Swiss banks only. What about other international banks? Black money in Swiss banks -- Swiss Banking Association report, 2006 details bank deposits in the territory of Switzerland by nationals of following countries: TOP FIVE INDIA............................................... $1,456 BILLION RUSSIA.............................................. $470 BILLION U.K..................................................... ....$390 BILLION UKRAINE.................................................... $100 BILLION CHINA........................................................ ....$96 BILLION Now do the math's - India with $1,456 billion or $1.4 trillion has more money in Swiss banks than rest of the world combined. Public loot since 1947: Can we bring back our money? It is one of the biggest loots witnessed by mankind -- the loot of the Aam Aadmi (common man) since 1947, by his brethren occupying public office. It has been orchestrated by politicians, bureaucrats and some businessmen. The list is almost all-encompassing. No wonder, everyone in India loots with impunity and without any fear. What is even more depressing in that this ill-gotten wealth of ours has been stashed away abroad into secret bank accounts located in some of the world's best known tax havens. And to that extent the Indian economy has been stripped of its wealth. Ordinary Indians may not be exactly aware of how such secret accounts operate and what are the rules and regulations that go on to govern such tax havens. However, one may well be aware of 'Swiss bank accounts,' the shorthand for murky dealings, secrecy and of course pilferage from developing countries into rich developed ones. In fact, some finance experts and economists believe tax havens to be a conspiracy of the western world against the poor countries. By allowing the proliferation of tax havens in the twentieth century,
Is Islam - A Religion of Terror ? A bomb goes off in a marketplace in Jerusalem. A suicide bomber launches himself into a bus full of women and children in Tel Aviv. Foreign tourists get massacred at a holiday resort in Luxor, Egypt. Villages upon villages get annihilated in Algeria. The list of events worldwide which have come to symbolise the 'Islamic terror' are endless. From the times in the 70's and 80's when Pan Am and TWA aeroplanes would be highjacked, to the mid 80's in war torn Lebanon where Americans and Europeans would be held as hostages for years; all such incidents have come to be identified with the religion of Islam. Such incidents from past and present have undoubtedly affected Muslims worldwide and more so in the West. Any Muslim, who wants to practice his/her religion and expresses the pious desire to live under the banner of Islam, is labelled a fundamentalist or extremist. Any Muslim man who walks down a busy street in London or Paris (and Paris moreso) with a beard and a scarf on his head, is looked upon as being a terrorist who's probably got an AK47 stashed somewhere on his person. Muslim women who are veiled can't go anywhere in the Western world without being taunted as being oppressed or being mad (for covering up). However, are such beliefs and opinions about Islam really justified? Exploding the myth One of the many short comings which has arisen in the West, is judging Islam by the conduct of a minority of its people. By doing this, segments of Western society have deliberately played off the desperate actions of many Muslims, and have given it the name of Islam. Such behaviour is clearly not objective and seeks to distort the reality of Islam. For if such a thing was done - judge a religion by the conduct of its people - then we too could say that all Christianity is about is child molesting and homosexuality [1] whilst Hinduism was all about looting and breaking up mosques [2]. Generalising in such a manner is not seen as being objective, yet we find that the Western world is foremost in propagating this outlook on Islam. So what is the reality of Islam? How does one dispel the myths which have been created and spread so viciously? The only way to examine Islam is to simply examine its belief system. Look at its sources, the Qur'an and Sunna, and see what they have to say. This is the way to find the truth about what Islam says about terror, terrorism and terrorists. One who is sincerely searching for the truth, will do it no other way. The very name Islam comes from the Arabic root word 'salama' which means peace. Islam is a religion which is based upon achieving peace through the submission to the will of Allah. Thus, by this very simple linguistic definition, one can ascertain as to what the nature of this religion is. If such a religion is based on the notion of peace, then how is it that so many acts done by its adherents are contrary to peace? The answer is simple. Such actions, if not sanctioned by the religion, have no place with it. They are not Islamic and should not be thought of as Islamic. Jihad The word jihad sends shivers down the spines of many Westerners. They readily equate this term with violence and oppression. However, it must be said that the meaning of jihad, as a 'holy war', is something which is totally foreign and not from Islam. If anything, such a description belongs more so to Christianity and its adherents. It was terms like this which were used to justify the slaughter and pillage of towns and cities during the crusades by the Christians. By simply looking into the sources of Islam, one is able to know that the true meaning of jihad is to strive/make effort in the way of Allah. Thus striving in the way of Allah can be both peaceful and physical. The Prophet Muhammed (saws) said: "The best jihad is (by) the one who strives against his own self for Allah, The Mighty and Majestic" [3] In the Qur'an, Allah also says: "So obey not the disbelievers, but make a great jihad (effort) against them (by preaching) with it (the Qur'an)" (Surah Al-Furqan 25:52) By controlling and fighting against ones desires, the Muslims can then also physically exert themselves in the path of Allah. It is this physical or combative jihad which receives so much criticism. Because of the sheer ignorance of this type of jihad Islam is regarded as terror, and Muslims are regarded as terrorists. However, the very purpose of this physical jihad is to raise the word of Allah uppermost. By doing this, it liberates and emancipates all those who are crying out for freedom all over the world. If the likes of the pacifists of this world had their way, then the world would indeed be full of anarchy and mischief. The combative jihad seeks to correct this as Allah says in the Qur'an: "And if Allah did not check one set of people by means of another, the Earth would be full of mischief. But Allah is full of bounty to the worlds" (Surah Al-Baqarah 2:251) Such would be the corruption on this Earth if there had never been a combative jihad that Allah says: "For had it not been that Allah checks one set of people by means of another, monasteries, churches, synagogues and mosques, wherein the name of Allah is mentioned much, would surely have been pulled down. Indeed Allah will help those who help His (cause). Truly Allah is All strong, All mighty" (Surah Al-Hajj 22:40) This combative jihad being both defensive and offensive, is something which is commanded by Allah upon the Muslims. Through this command the oppressed and weak are rescued from the tyranny of the world: "And what is the matter with you that you do not fight in the cause of Allah and for those weak, ill treated and oppressed among men, women and children whose only cry is; 'Our Lord, rescue us from this town whose people are oppressors and raise for us from you one who will protect and raise for us from you one who will help" (Surah An-Nisa 4:75) Anyone who knows the early history of Islam, will know that all those nations and empires which came under the fold of Islam were indeed previously oppressed. When the companions of the Prophet Muhammed (saws) went out for the offensive jihad against the Egyptians, the Persians and the Romans, we find that the people did not resist against them at all. Rather, they accepted Islam on such a scale, that it is inconceivable that the jihad of Islam could be anything other then a liberation for these people; a liberation from centuries of tyranny. In fact, with the Byzantine Egyptians and the people of Spain, the Muslims were even beckoned to come and liberate these lands from the oppression of their kings. This is the glorious track record of the Muslim jihad. Compare this with the brutal track record of warfare in the Western world over the centuries. From the crusades against the Muslims to the days of colonial warfare, the Western world has killed, destroyed and plundered everything which has come in its way. Even today this merciless killing goes on by the Western nations. While claiming to be about world peace and security, Western nations are ready to bomb innocent civilians at the drop of a hat. The classic example of this is the recent bombings of Sudan and Afghanistan. Whilst claiming that Sudan and Afghanistan were havens for Islamic terrorists, the bombings of these two nations could not have come at a better time for the American president Bill Clinton. The destruction of innocent lives which were a result of these bombings clearly seem to have been an attempt by Clinton to avert attention away from his sexual misdemeanours; [4] something which he so often gets caught up in. Without doubt this was the reason for such terror from the American military upon innocent people. This is the same American military which claims to enter the worlds trouble spots under the guise of being peace keepers. But "… when it is said to them; 'Make not mischief on the Earth', they say; 'We are only peace makers'. Indeed they are the ones who make mischief, but they perceive it not" (Surah Al-Baqarah 2:11-12) The hypocrisy of the West is indeed astounding. By looking at the rules and regulations of this combative jihad it will be clear to any sincere person that this is indeed the religion of truth. When fighting an unjust enemy, no matter how unjust they are, it is forbidden by Islam that their retreating forces are mutilated, tortured or slaughtered. The treacherous violation of treaties and carrying out assassinations after a cease fire, are also prohibited. Allah says in the Qur'an: "And fight in the way of Allah those who fight you. But do not transgress the limits. Truly Allah loves not the transgressors" (Surah Al-Baqarah 2:190) Not transgressing the limits means not to kill women and children, for the Messenger of Allah (saws) "forbade the killing of women and children" [5]. Not transgressing the limits means that the elderly, the sick, monks, worshippers and hired labourers are not attacked. Not transgressing the limits means not killing animals wantonly, burning crops and vegetation, polluting waters and destroying homes, monasteries, churches and synagogues: "Allah does not forbid you to deal justly and kindly with those who fought not against you on account of religion, nor drove you out of your homes. Indeed, Allah loves those who deal with equity" (Surah Al-Mumtahinah 60:8) After reading such passages from the Qur'an and knowing about what Islam commands and prohibits in jihad, the rules of warfare are given a new meaning; a meaning of justice. How sad it is then, that whilst Islam is condemned for striking terror into the hearts of the people, the likes of the Serbs, the Indian army in Kashmir and the Israeli soldiers in Palestine are left untarnished for the atrocities they have committed in the name of warfare. So what about suicide bombing, is this too a part of jihad in Allah's path? From what has already been stated above, it can be deduced that this is not from the religion. However, unfortunately many Muslims have taken suicide bombing as being a virtuous act by which one receives reward. This could not be further from the truth. The Prophet (saws) said: "Those who go to extremes are destroyed" [6]. Suicide bombing is undoubtedly an extremity which has reached the ranks of the Muslims. In the rules of warfare, we find no sanction for such an act from the behaviour and words of the Prophet Muhammed (saws) and his companions. Unfortunately, today (some misguided) Muslims believe that such acts are paving the way for an Islamic revival and a return to the rule of Islam's glorious law. However, we fail to bear in mind that the Prophet (saws) said: "Do not be delighted by the action of anyone, until you see how he ends up" [7] So, for example what is the end of a suicide bomber in Palestine?, a leg here, an arm there. Massive retaliation by the Israeli's in the West Bank and Gaza. More Muslims killed and persecuted. How can we be delighted with such an end? What really hammers the final nail in the coffin of this act, is that it is suicide; something which is clearly forbidden in Islam. The Messenger of Allah (saws) said: "He who kills himself with anything, Allah will torment him with that in the fire of Hell" [8] Some are under the misconception that by killing oneself for an Islamic cause, one commits an act which deserves Paradise. Once when a man killed himself, the Prophet (saws) said: "He is a dweller of the Fire". When the people were surprised at this, the Prophet (saws) said: "A person performs the deeds which to the people appears to be the deeds befitting the dweller of Paradise, but he is in fact one of the dwellers of the Fire" [9] The taking of ones life which Allah has given as a trust to the human, is a great sin. Likewise the taking of other lives (which is so often the case with suicide bombing) is also forbidden, as human life is indeed precious: "...If anyone killed a person not in retaliation for murder or to spread mischief in the land, it would be as if he killed the whole of mankind. And (likewise) if anyone saved a life, it would be as if he saved the whole of mankind" (Surah Al-Maaida 5:32) Thus, all other types of extremities such as hostage taking, hijacking and planting bombs in public places, are clearly forbidden in Islam. The Media By going through the teachings of Islam, it is clear that such a religion has only come to benefit mankind - not to destroy it. So why is there so much hatred for this noble religion in the West? The answer is simple, the media. It is the Jewish influenced media of the West which has portrayed Islam to be something that it is not. During the 70's and 80's when the PLO (Palestine Liberation Organisation) were carrying out daring highjacks on the worlds airways, the media in the West portrayed it as being Islamic. When the Shi'ite suicide bombers of the 80's were causing so much havoc in the Lebanon and in the Gulf region, the media in the West portrayed it as a part of Islam. However, it is known by the heads of the media that the likes of the PLO were not an Islamic organisation, and that according to Islam, Shi'ites are outside the fold of Islam [10]. Yet such facts are never portrayed by a media which seeks to cover the truth of this religion. A number of years ago, when the Oklahoma City bomb went off, a headline in one of the newspapers, 'Today' [11], summed up this attitude. With a picture of a fire fighter holding a dead child in his arms, the headline read: "In The Name of Islam" Time has of course proven that this bigoted assumption was incorrect, as Timothy McVeigh, a right wing radical now faces the death penalty for the crime [12]. Likewise the bombs which went off in the Paris metro in 1995, were also blamed on Muslim fanatics. It has now emerged that the Algerian secret service who having routinely bribed many European journalists and MPs, were actually behind it. The desire to throw a veil over Islam is immense by these people: "They intend to put out the light of Allah with their mouths, but Allah will complete His light even though the disbelievers hate (it)" (Surah As-Saff 61:8) Whilst trying to destroy Islam through this instrument of the media, the Jews clearly try to portray an image of themselves as being the oppressed people. Every year, we are reminded as to how many Jews perished under the Nazis in World War II. We are made to feel sorry for these same people who have gone on to commit so many crimes upon the Palestinian people. Some may say that this is a racist and biased viewpoint. But we say; If this media was not run and orchestrated by the Jews and was truly neutral, then why are Menachem Begin and Yitzhak Shamir, two former Israeli prime ministers, not held aloft as being terrorists? Anyone who knows about the history of the Palestinian occupation will tell you that these two men were members of the Stern Gang and Irgun, two notorious Jewish terror groups who killed many innocent people [13]. If this media was truly impartial, then why does it not tell about the extent of the Israeli bombardment and illegal occupation of Southern Lebanon and its people? [14] And if this media really had nothing against the religion of Allah, then why does it not inform the people that every day hundreds are entering the religion of Islam? Such things will never be highlighted in the Western media, simply because to do so would be against their very interests. With such immense pressure against it, it is indeed a blessing from Allah that Islam goes from strength to strength. It continues to grow faster then any other religion in the Western world, conquering the hearts and minds of thousands. All this should not even surprise us though, for Allah has promised us that this religion will prevail: "It is He who has sent His Messenger with the guidance and the religion of truth, so that He may make it victorious over all other religions, even though the disbelievers detest it" (Surah As-Saff 61:9) It is a must that humanity comes towards the religion of Islam. Without it, we will continue to slip down the road of inequity and darkness. With it we can establish a society of justice and peace. Religion of terror? ... no. The way forward? ... yes. "There is no compulsion in religion. The right path has indeed become distinct from the wrong. So whoever rejects false worship and believes in Allah, then he has grasped the most trustworthy handhold that will never break. And Allah is All Hearing, All Knowing" (Surah Al-Baqarah 2:256) Footnotes [1] By using the many cases of child abuse and homosexuality by priests, Such a generalisation about Christianity could be made [2] By using the incident of the destruction of the Babri mosque in Ayodya, India in December 1992 by Hindu zealots, such generalisations could be made about Hinduism [3] Authentic - Reported by At-Tabaranee [4] Years of sexual liaison with a White House aide, Monica Lewinski, has been proved against Mr Clinton. Since this time, a number of other women have also claimed that they have had affairs with the president. And this is the same man who propagates family values and to whom millions look up to! Trans, Vol. 1, p.64, No.206 [10] The beliefs which are contained in the books of the Shi'ites places them outside of the fold of Islam generally. However, upon the individual Shi'ite, the proofs need to be established before one can say that he or she is a disbeliever [11] This newspaper no longer exists [12] It is strange indeed that whilst the Western media criticises Islamic law for being barbaric and harsh, not a word is said about the fact that McVeigh too will be executed just as someone would in an Islamic state [13] These two groups killed Arabs, Jews and the British. They are accredited with the massacre at the village of Deir Yassin, in which many innocent people were butchered [14] Despite the fact that the UN has even made a resolution against Israel for this illegal occupation, no 'democratic peace loving nation' (like the USA!) has bothered to implement it

This is from the Washington Post! And you wonder why? Georgetown's Hidden History First, it was a slave port. Later, it was a thriving center of black life. Today, it's a virtually all-white enclave. Why? Georgetown's Hidden History First, it was a slave port. Later, it was a thriving center of black life. Today, it's a virtually all-white enclave. Why? By Andrew Stephen Sunday, July 16, 2006; B01 Two negro men $300 One ditto woman $150 Four ditto girls $150 Two horses $200 Two cows $30 It was a shocking discovery . Flipping through files at the local library a few months ago for a school project, my 16-year-old son chanced upon the deeds of the house in which we live. He already knew it was one of the oldest in Georgetown; now he learned that in 1807, it was owned by a Thomas Turner and valued at $3,500. But it was the valuation of this other property, listed so matter-of-factly in the records, that stopped him cold: Slaves, he realized, had once lived in our house. This awful knowledge set him on a quest for the hidden history of Georgetown, exposing unpalatable truths that had been lost, if not willfully forgotten, over the decades: that the supposedly chic Georgetown of today had once been the center of a thriving slave trade, a significant port of call for traffickers in human flesh transported in from Africa and plantations in Maryland and Virginia. Yet so obscured has this history become that not even most Washingtonians are aware of it. Nor are they aware of the flourishing black community, mostly descended from those slaves, that once occupied a large portion of Georgetown -- until a combination of legislative, social and economic pressures gradually forced nearly all the black people out, turning the neighborhood into the wealthy, effectively all-white enclave it is today. My son's research unearthed one part of this forgotten narrative of our neighborhood. A second hint lay in a curious Georgetown phenomenon that had always puzzled us: the continuing existence of several thriving black churches, filled every Sunday morning with African Americans who do not actually live here. The history of our own house, though, still seemed surreal -- until, that is, very recently. Deep in the bowels of our house, there is a crude crawl space beneath the basement, a darkly mysterious place in which it is impossible to stand upright. It is filled with an ancient cesspit, cavities, brickwork and ledges that I had vaguely assumed served some long-forgotten purpose; one of my least-favorite tasks is crawling into it to remove the bodies of our share of the huge Norway rats that swarm all over the neighborhood. A month or so ago, an electrician had to crawl into the space, and afterward I apologized that he'd had to do so. "No problem," he replied. "You can see that was where slaves did the cooking." For me, at least, the penny suddenly dropped. In that space below my house where only rats now live, we concluded, fellow humans had almost certainly cooked for Mr. Turner and his family -- and may even have slept there, too. This thought brought home to my family and me some realities of U.S. history that so many white Americans choose either not to know or to forget: the roots of racial animosity and why their legacy persists to this day. Lest we forget, there were neither blacks nor whites in Georgetown -- then known as Tahoga -- before British settlers came ashore around 1696. It was a peaceful village inhabited by the Nacotchanke Indians. Straightforward facts and precise dates of Georgetown history are difficult to establish; much of the subject is undocumented, and accounts differ. But the basic story is indisputable. The Indians were soon expunged by the settlers. Then, in the 18th century, white entrepreneurs realized that huge sums of money could be made from the insatiable demand -- in both Europe and the United States -- for the tobacco cultivated in Virginia and Maryland (of which Georgetown was then a part). Because of its position on the Potomac, Georgetown provided an ideal port from which ships laden with tobacco could sail to Europe; by the end of the 18th century, it was just about the largest tobacco port in the United States, an economic powerhouse to which slaves were brought to provide labor and to service the households of the tobacco merchants. Slavery, of course, is as old as humanity. European powers -- first Portugal, followed by Spain, France and Britain -- began abducting men and women from Africa to work as slaves in the New World. To its everlasting shame, Britain, my own country, was responsible for the transport of probably more than a million slaves, many of them to work in the sugar fields of the Caribbean. But at the point when English abolitionists were finally forcing an end to my country's slave trade, America's exploitation of slaves on its soil had not even reached its zenith. The year of Britain's Abolition of the Slave Trade Act -- 1807 -- has a special resonance for me, as it is the very year when Thomas Turner owned those seven slaves. I shudder to realize that just a two-minute walk from my house, a white man named John Beattie conducted a highly successful slave-trade business on what is now O Street, just east of Wisconsin Avenue, that flourished well into the second half of the 19th century. Blacks thus became essential economic tools for the development of Georgetown, but were simultaneously feared and rejected socially. The first Georgetown law to oppress them came as early as 1795, forbidding them to congregate in groups of seven or more. The 1800 Census showed that, in a population of 5,120 in Georgetown, there were already 1,449 slaves and 277 "free blacks." There was a lone exception to the congregating law: Blacks could go to church on the Sabbath. But they were still kept rigidly separate from whites. St. John's Episcopal Church, established in 1816 at 33rd and O streets NW, had an outdoor staircase built especially for blacks; it's still there today. That same year, hardly surprisingly, a handful of free black men managed to start their own tiny church -- which was to become Mount Zion United Methodist Church, one of the churches that remain a potent black force in Georgetown today. It was another half-century, though, before Mount Zion was allowed to have its own black minister. Its burial crypt, still visible at the church's cemetery at 27th and Q streets NW, was reputed to be a hiding place for escaped slaves fleeing to the North via the Underground Railroad. I imagine that at least the girls who formed part of the property of my house in 1807 were still alive when the 1848 "Black Code; Ordinances of the Corporation of Georgetown" was introduced. It is hard to convey the viciousness of the laws, so I will confine myself to just three examples: The code decreed that any black person swimming in the Potomac or Rock Creek at night "shall be publicly whipped"; that any black person who watched a cockfight could be punished with as many as 39 lashes; and that even flying a kite was punishable by whipping. That same year, 77 slaves tried to escape this kind of oppression on a ship called the Pearl; furious owners sent a posse on a steamer called the Salem to recapture them, and it caught up with the Pearl 140 miles downriver. The black flight from Georgetown was already beginning. But blacks were still being bought and sold here as late as November 1861. The next year, President Abraham Lincoln signed a local law that freed slaves eight months before the Emancipation Proclamation. Furious white merchants demanded compensation, and an "expert examiner of slaves" was brought in. After examining their teeth and general health, he assessed the overall value of the slaves of Georgetown, D.C., at $300,000. Georgetown's whites then voted against a Negro Suffrage Bill by 712 to 1, passing a motion describing it as "wholly uncalled for, and an act of grievous oppression." Blacks from the South, anticipating freedom, nonetheless poured into Georgetown. Between 1865 and 1870, its black population increased from 1,935 to 3,271. Over the next two or three decades, a skilled black working class started to emerge alongside a handful of black professionals. But countless laws and regulations that continued well into the 20th century prevented true economic and social emancipation: Only white passengers were allowed to ride on Georgetown's new electric streetcars, for example, enabling them to commute to Washington for well-paying jobs that were effectively denied to blacks. Then came a series of economic blows that began to seal the fate of Georgetown's blacks. The Potomac silted up, virtually ending the industrial effectiveness of Georgetown's harbor. The Chesapeake and Ohio Canal, which flowed through Georgetown and was crucial to many businesses such as flour and paper mills, flooded disastrously in 1889. Blacks were the first to lose their jobs when countless firms went bust. By 1910, the black population of Georgetown had peaked, and when the Great Depression struck 19 years later, more and more blacks found themselves displaced by whites taking menial jobs. Perversely, FDR's New Deal then began to work against blacks in Georgetown. Thousands of well-paid white government workers poured into Washington, creating further demand for housing and pushing property prices ever higher in Georgetown. "The dispossession of the Negro resident [of Georgetown]," the Conference on Better Housing Among Negroes reported, "is jointly managed by the city's leading realtors and their allied banks and trust companies." Two pieces of legislation passed in the 20th century by none other than Congress itself, though, were the final straws for Georgetown's blacks. The ostensible purpose of the District of Columbia Alley Dwelling Act of 1934 was to get rid of slums; but I suspect that to a House with only one black member and a Senate with none at all, slums and blacks were synonymous. Then, in 1950, Congress passed the Old Georgetown Act "to preserve and protect places of historic interest," but it had the effect of making Georgetown's gentrification legally enforceable. It was pushed through despite fears from "Negro groups," The Washington Post reported at the time, that it "might drive them from the area." Less than a decade later, Georgetown's black population had dwindled to fewer than 3 percent, and in 1972 The Post noted that fewer than 250 remained, "so few that some Georgetown residents are unaware they are there." Blacks were thus becoming invisible by the time the likes of Democratic doyenne Pamela Harriman started creating Georgetown's all-white "social salons" of such ludicrous legend. Indeed, racism was so entrenched in the nation's capital that even the glamorous young Sen. John F. Kennedy voluntarily signed a deed containing a "restrictive covenant" when he bought his house on N Street NW in 1957, agreeing that the home should not "ever be used or occupied or sold, conveyed, leased, rented, or given to Negroes or any person or persons of the Negro race or blood." Which brings us full circle to 2006. My son and I went to Mount Zion church on a recent Sunday morning and met an 84-year-old black parishioner named Carter Bowman, who was born in Georgetown but who long ago moved out. With neat serendipity, we met three generations of Bowmans because his son and grandson, who attends university in England, happened to be visiting. But if you go three generations in the reverse direction, you find that all of Carter Bowman's great-grandparents were born and raised when slavery was at its most intense in Georgetown. For all I know, they could have resided in that crude basement in my house, or someplace like it. Knowing what I know now, I found it strangely moving when the Rev. Robert Slade, chief pastor at Mount Zion -- who doesn't live in Georgetown -- told my son that "when we didn't have anything, the church was our everything. . . . When there was nothing and no place to go, [it] was the one place to go." Slade's words, to us, explain why the emotional bonds to the black churches in Georgetown remain so strong. It took a 16-year-old to bring all these realities of life in Georgetown, past and present, home to me. As a foreigner who remains deeply attached to America, I find it bewildering how so self-reverential a country can proclaim that all men are created equal but then proceed to implement racist oppression that manifestly expresses the reverse. The truth that my son and I discovered is that for many decades, blacks in Georgetown were treated little better than rats. He will never forget that, and neither will I. newstatesman@usa.net Andrew Stephen is the U.S. editor of the New Statesman magazine.
plz comment on the following.? N R Narayana Murthy, chief mentor and chairman of the board, Infosys Technologies, delivered a pre-commencement lecture at the New York University (Stern School of Business) on May 9. It is a scintillating speech, Murthy speaks about the lessons he learnt from his life and career. We present it for our readers: Dean Cooley, faculty, staff, distinguished guests, and, most importantly, the graduating class of 2007, it is a great privilege to speak at your commencement ceremonies. I thank Dean Cooley and Prof Marti Subrahmanyam for their kind invitation. I am exhilarated to be part of such a joyous occasion. Congratulations to you, the class of 2007, on completing an important milestone in your life journey. After some thought, I have decided to share with you some of my life lessons. I learned these lessons in the context of my early career struggles, a life lived under the influence of sometimes unplanned events which were the crucibles that tempered my character and reshaped my future. I would like first to share some of these key life events with you, in the hope that these may help you understand my struggles and how chance events and unplanned encounters with influential persons shaped my life and career. Later, I will share the deeper life lessons that I have learned. My sincere hope is that this sharing will help you see your own trials and tribulations for the hidden blessings they can be. The first event occurred when I was a graduate student in Control Theory at IIT, Kanpur, in India. At breakfast on a bright Sunday morning in 1968, I had a chance encounter with a famous computer scientist on sabbatical from a well-known US university. He was discussing exciting new developments in the field of computer science with a large group of students and how such developments would alter our future. He was articulate, passionate and quite convincing. I was hooked. I went straight from breakfast to the library, read four or five papers he had suggested, and left the library determined to study computer science. Friends, when I look back today at that pivotal meeting, I marvel at how one role model can alter for the better the future of a young student. This experience taught me that valuable advice can sometimes come from an unexpected source, and chance events can sometimes open new doors. The next event that left an indelible mark on me occurred in 1974. The location: Nis, a border town between former Yugoslavia, now Serbia, and Bulgaria. I was hitchhiking from Paris back to Mysore, India, my home town. By the time a kind driver dropped me at Nis railway station at 9 p.m. on a Saturday night, the restaurant was closed. So was the bank the next morning, and I could not eat because I had no local money. I slept on the railway platform until 8.30 pm in the night when the Sofia Express pulled in. The only passengers in my compartment were a girl and a boy. I struck a conversation in French with the young girl. She talked about the travails of living in an iron curtain country, until we were roughly interrupted by some policemen who, I later gathered, were summoned by the young man who thought we were criticising the communist government of Bulgaria. The girl was led away; my backpack and sleeping bag were confiscated. I was dragged along the platform into a small 8x8 foot room with a cold stone floor and a hole in one corner by way of toilet facilities. I was held in that bitterly cold room without food or water for over 72 hours. I had lost all hope of ever seeing the outside world again, when the door opened. I was again dragged out unceremoniously, locked up in the guard's compartment on a departing freight train and told that I would be released 20 hours later upon reaching Istanbul. The guard's final words still ring in my ears -- "You are from a friendly country called India and that is why we are letting you go!" The journey to Istanbul was lonely, and I was starving. This long, lonely, cold journey forced me to deeply rethink my convictions about Communism. Early on a dark Thursday morning, after being hungry for 108 hours, I was purged of any last vestiges of affinity for the Left. I concluded that entrepreneurship, resulting in large-scale job creation, was the only viable mechanism for eradicating poverty in societies. Deep in my heart, I always thank the Bulgarian guards for transforming me from a confused Leftist into a determined, compassionate capitalist! Inevitably, this sequence of events led to the eventual founding of Infosys in 1981. While these first two events were rather fortuitous, the next two, both concerning the Infosys journey, were more planned and profoundly influenced my career trajectory. On a chilly Saturday morning in winter 1990, five of the seven founders of Infosys met in our small office in a leafy Bangalore suburb. The decision at hand was the possible sale of Infosys for the enticing sum of $1 million. After nine years of toil in the then business-unfriendly India, we were quite happy at the prospect of seeing at least some money. I let my younger colleagues talk about their future plans. Discussions about the travails of our journey thus far and our future challenges went on for about four hours. I had not yet spoken a word. Finally, it was my turn. I spoke about our journey from a small Mumbai apartment in 1981 that had been beset with many challenges, but also of how I believed we were at the darkest hour before the dawn. I then took an audacious step. If they were all bent upon selling the company, I said, I would buy out all my colleagues, though I did not have a cent in my pocket. There was a stunned silence in the room. My colleagues wondered aloud about my foolhardiness. But I remained silent. However, after an hour of my arguments, my colleagues changed their minds to my way of thinking. I urged them that if we wanted to create a great company, we should be optimistic and confident. They have more than lived up to their promise of that day. In the seventeen years since that day, Infosys has grown to revenues in excess of $3.0 billion, a net income of more than $800 million and a market capitalisation of more than $28 billion, 28,000 times richer than the offer of $1 million on that day. In the process, Infosys has created more than 70,000 well-paying jobs, 2,000-plus dollar-millionaires and 20,000-plus rupee millionaires. A final story: On a hot summer morning in 1995, a Fortune-10 corporation had sequestered all their Indian software vendors, including Infosys, in different rooms at the Taj Residency hotel in Bangalore so that the vendors could not communicate with one another. This customer's propensity for tough negotiations was well-known. Our team was very nervous. First of all, with revenues of only around $5 million, we were minnows compared to the customer. Second, this customer contributed fully 25% of our revenues. The loss of this business would potentially devastate our recently-listed company. Third, the customer's negotiation style was very aggressive. The customer team would go from room to room, get the best terms out of each vendor and then pit one vendor against the other. This went on for several rounds. Our various arguments why a fair price -- one that allowed us to invest in good people, R&D, infrastructure, technology and training -- was actually in their interest failed to cut any ice with the customer. By 5 p.m. on the last day, we had to make a decision right on the spot whether to accept the customer's terms or to walk out. All eyes were on me as I mulled over the decision. I closed my eyes, and reflected upon our journey until then. Through many a tough call, we had always thought about the long-term interests of Infosys. I communicated clearly to the customer team that we could not accept their terms, since it could well lead us to letting them down later. But I promised a smooth, professional transition to a vendor of customer's choice. This was a turning point for Infosys. Subsequently, we created a Risk Mitigation Council which ensured that we would never again depend too much on any one client, technology, country, application area or key employee. The crisis was a blessing in disguise. Today, Infosys has a sound de-risking strategy that has stabilised its revenues and profits. I want to share with you, next, the life lessons these events have taught me. 1. I will begin with the importance of learning from experience. It is less important, I believe, where you start. It is more important how and what you learn. If the quality of the learning is high, the development gradient is steep, and, given time, you can find yourself in a previously unattainable place. I believe the Infosys story is living proof of this. Learning from experience, however, can be complicated. It can be much more difficult to learn from success than from failure. If we fail, we think carefully about the precise cause. Success can indiscriminately reinforce all our prior actions. 2. A second theme concerns the power of chance events. As I think across a wide variety of settings in my life, I am struck by the incredible role played by the interplay of chance events with intentional choices. While the turning points themselves are indeed often fortuitous, how we respond to them is anything but so. It is this very quality of how we respond systematically to chance events that is crucial. 3. Of course, the mindset one works with is also quite critical. As recent work by the psychologist, Carol Dweck, has shown, it matters greatly whether one believes in ability as inherent or that it can be developed. Put simply, the former view, a fixed mindset, creates a tendency to avoid challenges, to ignore useful negative feedback and leads such people to plateau early and not achieve their full potential. The latter view, a growth mindset, leads to a tendency to embrace challenges, to learn from criticism and such people reach ever higher levels of achievement (Krakovsky, 2007: page 48). 4. The fourth theme is a cornerstone of the Indian spiritual tradition: self-knowledge. Indeed, the highest form of knowledge, it is said, is self-knowledge. I believe this greater awareness and knowledge of oneself is what ultimately helps develop a more grounded belief in oneself, courage, determination, and, above all, humility, all qualities which enable one to wear one's success with dignity and grace. Based on my life experiences, I can assert that it is this belief in learning from experience, a growth mindset, the power of chance events, and self-reflection that have helped me grow to the present. Back in the 1960s, the odds of my being in front of you today would have been zero. Yet here I stand before you! With every successive step, the odds kept changing in my favour, and it is these life lessons that made all the difference. My young friends, I would like to end with some words of advice. Do you believe that your future is pre-ordained, and is already set? Or, do you believe that your future is yet to be written and that it will depend upon the sometimes fortuitous events? Do you believe that these events can provide turning points to which you will respond with your energy and enthusiasm? Do you believe that you will learn from these events and that you will reflect on your setbacks? Do you believe that you will examine your successes with even greater care? I hope you believe that the future will be shaped by several turning points with great learning opportunities. In fact, this is the path I have walked to much advantage. A final word: When, one day, you have made your mark on the world, remember that, in the ultimate analysis, we are all mere temporary custodians of the wealth we generate, whether it be financial, intellectual, or emotional. The best use of all your wealth is to share it with those less fortunate. I believe that we have all at some time eaten the fruit from trees that we did not plant. In the fullness of time, when it is our turn to give, it behooves us in turn to plant gardens that we may never eat the fruit of, which will largely benefit generations to come. I believe this is our sacred responsibility, one that I hope you will shoulder in time. Thank you for your patience. Go forth and embrace your future with open arms, and pursue enthusiastically your own life journey of discovery!

The police told me that they can't do anything because this is outside the United states. Shouldn't there be a way to hunt these people down and put them away?

You sell one, and force the other to produce the milk of four cows. Later, you hire a consultant to analyse why the cow has dropped dead. WALL ST VENTURE CAPITALISM You have two cows. You sell three of them to your publicly listed company, using letters of credit opened by your brother-in-law at the bank, then execute a debt/equity swap with an associated general offer so that you get all four cows back, with a tax exemption for five cows. The milk rights of the six cows are transferred via an intermediary to a Cayman Island Company secretly owned by the majority shareholder who sells the rights to all seven cows back to your listed company. The annual report says the company owns eight cows, with an option on one more. You sell one cow to buy a new president of the United States , leaving you with nine cows. No balance sheet provided with the release. The public then buys your bull. A FRENCH CORPORATION You have two cows. You go on strike, organise a riot, and block the roads, because you want three cows. C'est la Vie A JAPANESE CORPORATION You have two cows. You redesign them so they are one-tenth the size of an ordinary cow and produce twenty times the milk. You then create a clever cow cartoon image called 'Cowkimon' and market it worldwide. AN ITALIAN CORPORATION You have two cows, but you don't know where they are. You decide to have lunch. A RUSSIAN CORPORATION You have two cows. You count them and learn you have five cows. You count them again and learn you have 42 cows. You count them again and learn you have 2 cows. You stop counting cows and open another bottle of vodka. A SWISS CORPORATION You have 5000 cows. None of them belong to you. You charge the owners for storing them. A CHINESE CORPORATION You have two cows. You have 300 people milking them. You claim that you have full employment, and high bovine productivity. You arrest the newsman who reported the real situation. AN INDIAN CORPORATION You have two cows. You worship them to extreme . A BRITISH CORPORATION You have two cows. Both are mad. AN IRAQI CORPORATION Everyone thinks you have lots of cows. You tell them that you have none. No-one believes you, so the yanks bomb the sh#t out of you and invade your country. You still have no cows, but at least now you are part of a Democracy... AN AUSTRALIAN CORPORATION You have two cows. Business seems pretty good. You close the office and go for a few beers to celebrate. A NEW ZEALAND CORPORATION You have two cows. The one on the left looks very attractive..........
